Environmental Statement

We try to minimise our impact on the environment, especially in the areas of energy use, recycling and waste. For example:

  • During the renovation the buildings were insulated to a very high standard
  • All windows are double-glazed
  • Central heating is provided by a high-efficiency "combi" boilers
  • All radiators have individual thermostats
  • All accommodation is equipped with wood-burning stoves which can be used for space heating
  • Low energy light bulbs are used throughout the properties
  • Low energy washing machines
  • Inside and outside drying areas
  • We ask guests (via a notice on room thermostats) to turn down the heating when they go out; the rooms warm up very quickly on return
  • Recycling bins are provided for glass, paper, metal, plastics and cartons
  • Compost bins are provided for raw fruit and vegetable peelings, egg shells, tea bags, wood ash etc
  • The chickens recycle other food waste
  • Hafannedd has its own bus stop on the route between Rhyl and Llangollen, so it is possible to reach us without a car
  • A public footpath runs through our grounds and there are some excellent walks in the immediate area
  • The three letting units all have excellent EPC results, shown below
